Hope Renewed

By: Christy Lowry

Synopsis:

Hope Renewed: Picking UP the Pieces After Loss leaves the reader knowing how to survive a personal loss and how to better understand others and their struggle with loss. Everyone, at some point in their lives, will go through a loss, be it a parent, sibling, child, friend, hopes or dreams. None will escape! Among other things, this book details the best way to break bad news, explains how shock is really a gift in disguise, what body mapping and an anger allowance are, and what corrodes a marriage after a child dies. It shares why closure is not closure, and finally, how love is constant beyond death. Hope Renewed speaks to you as you seek comfort—or comfort others. It truly is Hope Renewed.

My Review:

What an inspiring story! Having been through a very personal loss myself, it is hard to wrap your mind around how you are supposed to act and feel.

Society in general seems to have its own view of what emotions you should have and when, but everyone grieves very differently and until you have experienced this type of grief, you have no idea how you will react. Most of us want to ignore that it has happened, push it to the back of our mind and go through the motions of preparation for the burial and the influx of people that will be surrounding you during that time.

But sometimes, you need to take a step back and realize that you will be dealing with this loss in one way or the other for the rest of your life – but you can come to terms with it and rejoice in having had the pleasure of having your loved one until their time here was finished.

The author, Christy Lowry speaks from her own experiences and gives you so much insight into her struggles with death, family, loss and the shock that this person will no longer be with you. She must be a wonderfully warm person because this warmth shines through her book, Hope Renewed.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that has suffered a loss – whether recent or in the past. I’ll be passing my copy on to a dear friend her lost her son last year and still struggles terribly.

This is not your typical “lift me up” book, but the author deals with subject matter in a “real” way that helps you delve more into your own emotions.  What a great book!
