Book Review: Nacho Money by Candi Sparks

Nacho Money  (Vol. 4 of “Can I Have Some Money?)

By:  Candi Sparks

My Review:

How much do I wish I had this book when my kids were young? A lot, a lot!

Nacho Money “It’s Not Your Money!!”, by author Candi Sparks, is the 4th installment of a very clever series of books – “Can I Have Some Money?”.  All of the books are geared towards teaching about finance in a way they can easily understand.

With 7 children in our home, teaching them how to handle money properly has always been difficult.  Thankfully, all of our children like money enough that they got jobs as soon as they turned 16 yrs old! But I would have loved to have this book so I could start teaching them the basics of handling money early in their life.

This book revolves around Max, who begins to lose money and friends based on a series of small mishaps. He loses his best friend Emmas game, uses his brothers money for frivolous treats for his friends and when he forgets to return his library books, his report card is withheld. Without that report card, he can’t get all the great stuff his Grandma promised him and without Emma, he losses his best friend.  He then finds himself in big trouble as they all start to pile up.

He is super clever and he decodes the secret to money and figures out how to handle his money quick so he can salvage his friendships, return money to his brother, and build peoples trust back.

This book is fabulous and introduces adult financial words in such a subtle way that kids won’t even know they are learning life lessons. I have not read the other installments in this series, but will most likely pick those up as well. Great Job!
