30 Days to Understanding Other People

By Beverly D. Flaxington

My Review:

Do you have problems dealing with relationships in your life and aren’t quite able to pinpoint what the issue is? Maybe a partner, a boss or a family member? Then 30 Days to Understanding Other People by author Beverly D. Flaxington, just might be the right book for you.

This book helps lead you in the right direction to getting these relationships back on track and living a happier, more calm life. The book is broken up into daily exercises that teach you lessons on how to handle your reaction to what other people say and do to you each day.

I have worn many hats in my life so far; mother, step-mother, caretaker, employee and boss. With each phase of my life, I’ve had to deal with a variety of people and situations. I used to be a pushover – allowing people all of the control over situations and outcomes. Most of the time, this didn’t work well and the end result was that I was left to pick up the pieces of a broken friendship or relationship. But as I matured and gained more responsibilities, I had to start taking control of how I handled someone elses reaction to what I may have said or done. I truly wish I had this book during that time!

This book gives lessons that I have tried to teach my children as they mature and start to deal with new people and new issues in their life. People can only take your power if you give it to them. You have to give a little sometimes and be the bigger person – agree to disagree sometimes!

Like the author says, commit 30 days and watch your relationships change – reading this book is a huge step in that direction!
